Episode 10 – Microcosmic (Hologram Microcosm guitar pedal with mandolin, ukulele, kalimba, and more!)
“Microcosm” means “small world,” or something little that is representative of something much larger. And that’s what you get with the Microcosm pedal by Hologram Electronics: in this fairly small box you get entire worlds of glitchy, melodic, and ambient soundscapes. Let’s see what a big deal this little pedal is. In this video I will showcase a variety of sounds, as well as going over features like the Hold Sampler, Phrase Looper, and what all those knobs do…
Song Creation: Polar Ascendancy
Sometimes I stumbled upon some sounds I really like while trying out different Microcosm presets with different instruments, and that’s what happened when I tried SEQ C with my Luna acoustic-electric ukulele plugged in. The Microcosm expanded a simple arpeggiated G chord into something much fuller and richer sounding, practically a song all of its own. So I decided to make this into a short ambient track and flesh it out using the SpacePad preset from my Beatskillz Synthwave KZ virtual synthesizer.
